Zurich is Switzerland's largest city and its financial engine, but it wears that wealth lightly. Zurich Airport (ZRH) sits about 10 minutes from the center by direct train, with departures several times an hour to the main station (Zurich HB); buy a ticket from the SBB machine or app rather than taking a taxi. In the city, the ZVV tram and bus network is fast, punctual, and covers everything; a 24-hour or multi-day pass usually beats single tickets, and the same ticket covers lake ferries within the zone.
